Deep In The Heart

My job is sending me to Texas next week for training, and I am so excited!

My cousin lives in Austin and I haven't seen her for 15 years. We made plans to get together for dinner while I am there. When we were kids we would visit her in the summertime and she was like a big sister to me. I looked up to her and I love her so much, those memories of my childhood are the best and it brings me so much joy to remember those precious times that live deep in my heart.

My husband and I want to move to Texas in the next 5 years.

Seems like a long ways away but I look back 5 years and it seemed to fly.

Everything's bigger in Texas so I'm sure me and my big hair will fit right in.

I'm traveling alone so keep me in your prayers.
Thanks y'all.

Workin On My Day Off

We are getting ready to have our living room, dining room and hallways painted.

Stripping everything bare

If you ever want to see how much stuff you have, just move it all into 1 room.

My sweet husband allowed me to use his pool table to store all of my girly things while the painters are here.

I am actually looking forward to rearranging some of my displays and (maybe) thinning it out a little. Ok lets get real! LOL

Back to work, now I need to move all the furniture out.

Lemons In January ?

My neighbor shared these beautiful lemons with me the other day, she doesn't bake so she handed them to me and said "I have no idea what to do with them", well I see a lemon pound cake with yummy icing in their future........

I always use Swans Cake flour.

This old recipe looks really good, I love the simplicity of vintage recipes, just basic ingredients.

I'm really HAPPIEST at home in my cozy kitchen...........

Lookie What I Got For Christmas

Short version of the long story.........I was off work all week and ran into an antique shop near my house. I spotted the perfect little white hutch and decided I must have it. Well I knew I needed to talk it over with my husband and that night after dinner, I laid it on him. He agreed and I called the store the next morning promptly at 10:00. I made an offer and she told me she would get a hold of the owner of the gorgeous piece and then get back to me. About an hour went by and my phone rang, quick, quick grab it! Hello I said and she responded with what she described as "bad news". What? bad news? She broke the news to me that it had sold the day before and was erroneously not marked "sold". My heart sank to the bottom of my feet. Some other woman has purchased MY hutch and is probably doing a happy dance as we speak! I was supposed to bake that day (which is my favorite thing to do) and couldn't even get excited about it, I (secretly) cried over that hutch. Fast forward to dinner time, my husband walks in the door and kisses me (like he always does) and asks me to help him carry in a gift he bought for our son. Hmmmm, well ok, I guess he bought one more gift for me to wrap. Imagine my surprise when he opened the tailgate and there it was!!! MY hutch!!!!! I have never been so surprised in all my life. I love my husband so much and I adore my beautiful new hutch.

It displays all my pretties so nicely
