And last but not least, I am taking heed to the much appreciated advice of my good friend Elaine at Sunny Simple Life who is a great example of thrift & frugality. As I read about her participation in the Thrifty Living Series, I am prompted and encouraged to "cut back" and find ways to live with what I have. One area we spend way too much money on is dining out. To spend $50+ on a dinner out seems so wasteful. Now don't get me wrong, we like to get out once a week and there is nothing wrong with getting the night off from cooking, but if we can put together a family meal with leftovers, then we are making every effort to save that money. I would love to find some recipes (perhaps from bloggers) using basic leftovers and sharing ideas for getting the most out of the meals we prepare for our families. Really with just a little bit of effort I feel as if I can save money. Hope you are having a great start to your week. Debbie |

pantry; a small room or cupboard in which provisions, cooking utensils, etc., are kept.
My husband has been a very very busy man |
2 weeks ago he decided he could not stand trying to find things in the "closet" we were using as a pantry. It was a broom closet in the hallway that he built some shelves in (a few years ago) but it was so hard to organize and harder to find what you needed because everything got shoved to the back. Needless to say we wasted a lot of money buying things we didn't need because we didn't know we already had 10 cans of soup.....well you get it. |
I came home from work on Friday a couple of weeks ago and found this |
He knocked the wall out in that little closet and pushed it out 5 feet into the garage. |
I was speechless! He is not a contractor by trade but I tell you ladies, this man of mine can do "anything". |
He installed a gorgeous light |
Carpet on the floor and customized shelving.....floor to ceiling! |
A place for everything and everything in its place. |

"Kinda Nervous"
I was kinda nervous today. You see I had to meet with my husbands ex-wife to have her sign some documents. He asked me to handle it because he trusts me and knows I will keep my head on straight and just get what we need from her without any "issues".
I bet you dont know this about me, but I have a lot of insecurities. I don't look in the mirror and see what you might see. I have been like this my entire life, I know I am loved, I feel confident (at times), I know I am smart, I just don't know why I feel this way. Having to meet with her magnifies those insecurities. I wonder if any of you can relate? This isnt a pity party, I am just sharing the real me.
Anyway, sorry I have been out of the "blogging bunch". Just trying to keep up with life, helping my husband with our business, working full time, cooking, cleaning, helping my daughter get settled into her new place, just trying to keep it all going.
Anyway, I plan to get a post up this week. Thank you for hanging in there with me.
Love & Smiles,
Debbie

Are you in "The Organization" ?
Spent my weekend, yes my entire weekend, getting organized. I took down allllllll the Christmas decorations, packed up ornaments and decor from decorating days gone by and made 2 trips to the Salvation Army. It's so fun decorating for Christmas but there is definitely something very satisfying about packing it up, putting it away and moving things around.
On my second trip, I spied this adorable old school desk in front of the donation door. Oh I couldn't resist.......
My husband had to modify it a little bit to make it level. He promised me he would paint those little wooden pieces he put on the legs.
I think my cookbooks look so sweet on my little old school desk. I felt so good making a donation and I felt so blessed to have found this sweet old treasure.
