Not as good as my Friend Joanne.....

Well I was in a baking mood today (even in this heat, I just love to bake) so with the air conditioner on full speed and my convection oven set to 350 I used the lovely recipe that Joanne from Cottage in the Making posted on her blog and made some cupcakes to serve from my very vintage stand......they didn't come out nearly as lovely as the cupcakes Joanne made but she is a professional cake decorator and I am an accounting nerd so she has an unfair advantage over me.....I wonder if she can balance her checkbook with her eyes closed like I can...just kidding.....

I only wanted to make a dozen cupcakes since my family really doesn't like cake-like desserts so I decided I would make this little bundt cake with the remaining batter. I am going to take it to work tomorrow and share it with my co-workers. It is one of the girls birthday this week so I think it will be very appropriate.....hope they like it......

After I finished baking, I felt like finishing some of those spray painting projects that just seem to mount every weekend. Remember these little numbers I scored at the Salvation Army last weekend? Well they didn't stay gold and brass for long.....BEFORE

And AFTER.....

My neighbors always comment on my spray painting and I always smile and say "my treasures are so much happier in white".

My mother gave this mirror to me a few years ago and my husband liked it gold. Not me, so I decided it was time to "make it mine" and paint it.....

That's more like it.......

Wonder how long it will take him to notice......probably forever!!!

Have a wonderful week. I am going up to Northern California at the end of this week for the life celebration for my dear dad so please remember me and my family in prayer as we celebrate him and (try to) say goodbye.....I sure do miss him...

Lots of Love,

Debbie Kay

Hi Debbie,
Wow, I really like what you did with your can of spray paint. I haven't tried using spray paint. I think I should. Using a brush takes alot of time and leaves marks. Next project I will use spray paint. Your treasures look lovely in white. Come visit me, I'm having a little give away :)Warmly, Deb

You know you will be in my thoughts and prayers, as will be your family. It's always so much nicer to go celebrate the life of a loved one rather then a funeral. After all, it is the time on Earth we will treasure the memories of them until we meet up with them again in Heaven.

Your cupcakes turned out beautiful. Did they taste yummy? If they do you have Cindy at Romantic Homes to thank as I got the recipe from her. Did you use the creamcheese icing too?

Oh, I almost forgot, I'm doing a one day giveaway so stop by.

Big hugs my friend!
Joanne

yummy!! can't wait!! can we just ignore the birthday though? ;-) i've had enough to last the rest of my life by now.

I know how hard the end of this week will be for you. Knowing your Father is with OUR FATHER should offer some comfort to you. I know as humans our grief is selfish and it is totally normal-we want our loved ones here to be a part of our lives. Hang in there. Your Mom will really need you,Deb.

Hi Debbie~Your cupcakes are so sweet on the plate you found! And your Salvation Army treasures look so great painted white. I have a feeling it will take hubby a bit to notice the mirror...if he's anything like mine!
Have a great day!

Your cupcakes and cake look great! It's so funny I just got out my mixer to make some cupcakes and I thought I would catch up with a few blogs first! I love all your white spray painted items. Everything looks better painted white! I got all excited when you said you were coming to Northern California because I thought I could meet you in person and then I read the rest. I think Life Celebrations are such a good thing. We really should remember all the good of each person and celebrate that!
